Biographical Information
Lori Gualco began her legal career in 1980 in San Francisco, California, working as an insurance defense attorney. After four years of extensive discovery practice and trials, she moved into the areas of real estate and commercial/business litigation. Later she focused her practice on complex multi-party litigation in the areas of real estate, commercial, and environmental toxics. She is known for her role in the City of Lodi v. M&P Investments, et al., U.S. District Court, Eastern District (No. CIV-S-00-2441 FCD JFM) case where she was instrumental in developing a litigation strategy that led to a favorable settlement for her clients and a workable clean-up plan for the City of Lodi with a cooperating regulatory agency. Lori served as counsel for Defendant McDuffee in Department of Toxic Substances Control v. Brighton Oil Co., et al., U.S. District Court, Eastern District (No. CIV-S-02-0018 GEB JFM). She was appointed Fund Trustee and Chair of the Oversight Committee of the Brighton Oil Joint Investigation Fund, administering and directing a $1.2 million investigation of a former oil recycling plant, resulting in a settlement of the contaminated site for 30 parties with Plaintiff DTSC assuming responsibility for cleaning up the site on behalf of the settling parties.
Utilizing her acquired knowledge of the law and ability to distill the facts, Lori has worked with numerous attorneys to resolve cases through her development of strategies for settlement. Lori has negotiated resolution of multi-party civil litigation matters and facilitated workable solutions with numerous regulatory agencies. She actively settles cases in the Sacramento Superior Court where she has worked as a judge pro tem for over 18 years. Lori also has the requisite skills and experience to serve as a discovery referee and special master.
Legal Experience Lori has spent 28 years in several private firms handling a variety of matters including complex civil litigation concerning residential, industrial, and commercial real estate, commercial, partnership and business matters involving complex financial issues, environmental toxics, construction defect and insurance defense cases relating to personal injury and professional liability defense. She has litigated extensively in state and federal courts and has also worked with regulatory agencies throughout the State of California. She is now engaged in a mediation/arbitration practice assisting parties in resolving a wide variety of civil matters. Her mediations and settlement conferences have included real estate disputes (commercial, industrial and residential), commercial disputes, mortgage and loan disputes, contract matters, partnership disputes, trusts and estates matters, personal injury, employment matters, eminent domain, conversion and fraud, title insurance matters, construction defect, professional malpractice, landlord/tenant, insurance coverage, trade secrets, Lemon Law cases, sexual assault and battery, elder abuse and workers' compensation.
